Puzzle Tips

This is a simple level, but you can mess it up if you're not careful. SAVE at the beginning!!!

You must kill ALL compilers (by now you know to call them Vrakt, so I'll call them that as well) on each level before descending to the next. You cannot go back once you've dropped down a shaft. This part of the ship was not built for anything other than Vrakt. Once you kill the last Vrakt, just stand still and you'll zap out as the wormhole collapses.

By the way, that alien that teleports into the room where you start -- try talking to it (ie, "action-key" it). Don't bother trying to kill it... your puny weapons will never even hit it.

Combat Tips

After the first shaft-jump, you should run around in the ring for a few minutes. True, it's filled with Vrakt. But if you stick to the outer wall, you will avoid them for the most part and can avoid most, if not all, of their shots. Run back and forth a few times until all the Vrakt are clumped. Then you can be fairly safe to concentrate on the clump in front of you without worrying about an attack from behind. Just use the bend of the ring to block any Vrakt projectiles with the inner wall.

At the second shaft-jump, things are a little more dicey. The Vrakt will come at you very quickly, and in a group. You might be able to get out of the shaft opening and use the same trick, but if you're blocked in, you're in trouble. I recommend charging up your fusion pistol before jumping down. One overload blast can clear a pretty good path through the Vrakt at close range. (Remember, it doesn't act like the classic Infinity fusion weapon -- it fires a whole volley of bolts when charged.) It will not end the battle by a long shot, but it might make the difference between escaping into the ring where you can dodge and being hammered to death in the shaft opening.
